| INVESTING IN NEW MERCIES MINISTRIES |
|
Like many missionaries, each New Mercies Ministries worker is responsible for raising his or her own salary. This includes both ministry (flights to the field, office supplies, postage, etc.) and personal (healthcare, lodging, food, clothes, taxes, etc.) expenses. In the midst of tremendous project needs, it is important that our workers be fully supported so that we can continue this important ministry. Our greatest need at this time is for monthly project and personal support. Would you please consider partnering with us in this way? We are happy to share more specifically with you about how we can work together to be a part of what God is doing in these nations (read on to learn more about how funds are used). |

| INVESTMENT
INFORMATION: WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO? We feel very strongly about being good stewards by being open, honest and accountable to you, our supporters. Therefore, the section below explains a typical personal budget in a bit more detail (the numbers below reflect Charlie and Karen's actual budget). When supporting a worker, you are contributing to three main areas. Here’s a short explanation of each: |
| PERSONAL This is the money a worker lives on, which includes things like food, housing, offerings, clothes, savings, entertainment, etc. For example, Charlie and Karen have a combined personal budget of $1,910 per month ($22,920 per year). MINISTRY These funds are used specifically and directly for ministry expenses. This includes such things as travel, training, office supplies, postage, airfare, newsletters, project publicity costs, visas and in-country expenses. Charlie and Karen's monthly ministry budget is $1,535 per month ($18,420 per year). "BENEFITS" AND TAXES Being self-employed for tax purposes, staff must pay all of their own health insurance and other related medical expenses. Charlie and Karen have allocated $435 per month ($5,220 yearly) to cover these costs. In addition to paying reguler income taxes, workers are also responsible for the full 15.3% FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax on the “personal” portion of income. This adds $520 per month ($6,240 yearly). |
| SUPPORTING
A PROJECT Have you ever seen a story on the news about a crisis in another country and wondered how you could help? Or maybe you find that you are shocked at your own indifference. Both responses are common. Sometimes a "heart connection" produces action, while there are other times it's action that produces the "heart connection." Either way, we are meant to act. Partnering with New Mercies Ministries is one great way to get involved at ground level. God is doing exciting things in the nations we're serving, and we invite you to participate with us by investing in the various New Mercies Ministries projects. Though your gift undoubtedly blesses those to whom it's given, we are confident that you, too, will be blessed as you see God work both in and through you to change lives across the world. To learn more about specific project support opportunities, please click here. So
how much of my gift is absorbed by "Administrative Costs?"
Everything you give for projects goes towards those projects. Since all international staff and helpers raise their own salary, the money you give for projects goes completely and directly to those projects. For example, if a staff member flies to Rwanda to work on our orphanage project and stays at a guest house while there, he or she covers these costs as a part of personal support. However, the Rwandese widow responsible for cooking for the children at the orphanage is considered part of the project and is thus paid with project funds. Should you have further questions about the use of funds for personal or project support, please do not hesitate to contact us. |
